Verfuerth Finishes 17th at NCAA Outdoor Long Jump Championship

CLAREMONT, Calif. - St. Norbert College sophomore Mike Verfuerth finished 17th in the long jump at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship hosted at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges' Burns Track Complex.

Verfuerth, making his first NCAA national meet appearance, did not advance out of his flight, posting a top jump of 22 feet 10 inches (6.96 meters). His other two jumps were 6.87 and 6.70 meters.

UW-La Crosse's Isaac Vazquez won the national championship with a top jump of 24-11 3/4.

In the preliminaries of the 400-meter hurdles, Justin Johnson did not qualify for the finals after finishing fifth in his heat in 57.62 seconds.
