MADISON - St. Norbert College opened the 2012 season with a pair of 1-0 wins, gaining victories over Lakeland College on Saturday and at Edgewood College on Sunday.

The Green Knights outshot Lakeland 23-13 but only netted one goal, but it held up as the game-winner. David Jacobson scored his first collegiate goal off an assist from Trevor Scales at the 48:09 mark.

Noah Davis made four saves to get the shutout for St. Norbert, while Alex Piekarski had seven saves in net for Lakeland.

St. Norbert scored in the 71st minute to post the win against Edgewood. Andrew Hull's free kick was headed in by Marc Popp at 70:10 to give the Green Knights the win. Edgewood outshot St. Norbert 14-4 but Davis only faced five shots on goal to earn another shutout.

St. Norbert (2-0) matched last season's wins total with the pair of triumphs. The Green Knights return to action Tuesday in Dunbar against Northland International University.
