DE PERE - A rough two-minute stretch in the second half was enough to send St. Norbert College to a 2-1 loss to Monmouth College in a Midwest Conference match at Schneider Stadium.
The Green Knights (3-2-1, 0-1 MWC) held a 1-0 lead before the Scots (1-5, 1-0) countered with two goals from Logan Simpson just 1 minute 45 seconds apart midway through the second half. Simpson had a well-struck ball go in from about 30 yards at 57:11, and then followed with a score off a turnover at 58:56 to put the Scots ahead.
St. Norbert, which scored on a breakaway goal by David Jacobson at 27:37, could only muster two shots in the second half and couldn't find the equalizer.
St. Norbert outshot Monmouth 10-9 and had a 6-4 edge in corner kicks. Noah Davis made one save for the Green Knights, whose team defense was credited with two saves. Matt Schmidt made three saves for Monmouth.
