DE PERE - St. Norbert College continued its torrid start to the 2012 season with a 4-1 win over Illinois College in a Midwest Conference match at Schneider Stadium.

The Green Knights (6-1-1, 2-0 MWC) led 2-1 at halftime on a pair of goals by Katie Vanden Avond, who now has 13 in eight games this season. Vanden Avond scored her first goal just 4 minutes 2 seconds into the game on a breakaway feed from Jaci Kulow. Illinois College's Bianca Savarese scored on a breakaway of her own at 13:19 to make it 1-1, but Vanden Avond put the Green Knights ahead for good with a far-post strike at 35:16 with Shannon Jung assisting.

St. Norbert added a pair of goals in the second half. Kulow bent in a corner kick at 55:25, and Brooke Christensen scored at 83:55 when she corralled a loose ball and punched it home.

The Green Knights outshot the Lady Blues 20-6. Sarah Platzer made three saves for the Green Knights.

St. Norbert is idle until it hosts UW-Stout in a non-conference match at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23 at Schneider Stadium.
