DE PERE - St. Norbert College sophomore Katie Vanden Avond scored a natural hat trick to lead the Green Knights to a 3-2 non-conference win over UW-Stout at Schneider Stadium.

The Green Knights improved to 7-1-1 overall, while the Blue Devils dropped to 3-4-2.

Stout took an early 1-0 lead when Kayla Seivert scored on a breakaway at the 13 minutes 45 seconds mark. Vanden Avond took over from there, netting three straight goals in a 14-minute stretch for a 3-1 edge.

Vanden Avond scored from the left side at 18:39, and followed up with another goal at 25:56 when Zoe Kurth fed her with an open look at the doorstep for a 2-1 edge. Vanden Avond scored with a blast to the high scorner at 31:56 for the eventual game-winning goal. Vanden Avond now has 16 goals in nine games this season.

The Blue Devils mounted a rally late in the match when Alix Hyduke converted on a breakaway at 76:52, but the visitors couldn't net the equalizer down the stretch.

St. Norbert outshot Stout 19-11 and held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks. Sarah Platzer made four saves for the Green Knights.
