Green Knights Split at Marian

FOND DU LAC - St. Norbert College split a pair of non-conference games at Marian College, losing the opener 2-1 before taking the nightcap 9-7.

The Green Knights are now 12-9 heading into a scheduled pair of key Midwest Conference doubleheaders this weekend against Carroll College and Ripon College. Marian fell to 15-9.

St. Norbert took a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning on a solo home run by Erin Pamperin, but could not score again. Marian scored two runs on a solo home run by Emily Wiesman and an RBI double by Ashley Engler.

Three Marian pitchers combined to hold St. Norbert to five hits in the game, with Kristin Rose pitching the last two innings with four strikeouts. Mara Resch took the loss for St. Norbert, allowing five hits with no walks and two strikeouts.

The Green Knights scored eight runs in the top of the third inning in the nightcap, and eventually led 9-1 before Marian cut into the deficit.

Lindsey Reynolds drove in St. Norbert's first run in the big inning, getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Brieanne Oehlke followed with a grand slam and a 5-1 lead. Kim Sawyer had a two-run double later in the inning, which was aided by three Marian errors.

Oehlke finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs to lead St. Norbert offensively. Kayla Krueger, who had an RBI double in the fourth, went the distance for St. Norbert. Krueger allowed 13 hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
