St. Norbert Falls in MWC Tournament Semifinal Match

ROCKFORD, Ill. - St. Norbert College put up a fierce battle but fell to Lake Forest College 5-2 in the semifinals of the Midwest Conference Team Tournament at Boylan Tennis Center.

The Green Knights, who were runner-up in the MWC North Division, had their chances against the MWC South Division champion Foresters but lost some close decisions.

St. Norbert picked up one doubles point when Ariel Bloniarz and Maggie Berens topped Aimee Fadden and Lucy Cooper 8-4 at No. 3. The Green Knights lost a tough 9-7 match at No. 1 when Nancy Chybowski and Maria Slusarek fell to Melika Celebic and Christi Valicenti.

Brittany Dudzik beat Emily Rabin 6-0, 2-6, 6-1 at No. 6 for the Green Knights' lone singles win. Valicenti beat Bloniarz at No. 2 6-4, 6-3 and Fadden topped Lizzy Tews 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4 in a pair of close losses for St. Norbert.
