St. Norbert Finishes Second at MWC Championship

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College narrowly missed a Midwest Conference title and had to settle for second place at the MWC Championship hosted by the Green Knights at Colburn Park.

St. Norbert was the first team to have five runners finish and totaled 55 points, but was nosed out by Monmouth College's 51 points. Grinnell College took third with 69 points. Grinnell's Sarah Burnell was the individual champion with a time of 22 minutes, 5 seconds. A total of 137 runners competed in the 6,000-meter race.

The Green Knights had five All-Midwest Conference performers. Amanda Whipple led St. Norbert with a sixth-place finish with a time of 23:03. Elvia Martinez finished in 10th place with a time of 23:28, while Hannah Andrekus placed 12th with a time of 23:36. Charlotte Walsh and Erin McShea finished in 13th and 14th place, respectively, with times of 23:39 and 23:42.

Erika Quinn finished in 36th place in 24:46, while Liz Hietpas placed 41st overall with a time of 25:00 to close out St. Norbert's top seven.
