APPLETON - St. Norbert College locked up a berth in the Midwest Conference Tournament with a 1-0 win over Lawrence University at Whiting Field West.

The Green Knights (12-3-3, 7-1-2 MWC) finished in second place in the league - one-half game behind Lake Forest's 8-1-1 - but would have been out of the tournament with a loss to the Vikings (4-13, 3-7). St. Norbert will face Monmouth College at 11 a.m. Friday in a tournament semifinal in Lake Forest, Ill.

St. Norbert got the only goal of the game at the 34:47 mark when Zoe Kurth headed in a Jaci Kulow corner kick. It was Kurth's third goal of the year.

The Green Knights outshot Lawrence 17-8, but couldn't get any insurance in the second half. St. Norbert's Sarah Platzer made four saves to record her third shutout of the season. Cassandra Burke made 10 saves to keep Lawrence in the game.
