St. Norbert Falls to Cornell in MWC Tournament Championship

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - St. Norbert College dropped a 3-1 decision to Cornell College in the championship match of the Midwest Conference Tournament at the Richard and Norma Small Multi-Sport Center.

The Rams topped the Green Knights 25-18, 25-20, 22-25, 25-21 to win the MWC's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament in their first year returning to the conference. St. Norbert's season ended 24-9, while Cornell improved to 20-10.

St. Norbert's offense uncharacteristically struggled, totaling 23 hitting errors. The Green Knights had 42 kills in 165 attempts for a percentage of .115. Heidi Spies and Breanne Brocker finished with 11 kills apiece, while Danielle Remy added eight.

Catherine Guido dug out 29 balls for the St. Norbert defense. Guido finished a decorated career for St. Norbert with 2,614 digs, narrowly setting the school record for career digs. Brocker added 13 digs and Lindsay Wiebe had 11 digs.

Kaitlin Delahaut had 17 assists for St. Norbert, while Abby West added 16.

Cornell hit .198 for the match, getting 57 kills with 24 errors in 167 attempts. Kathleen O'Connor had a match-high 20 kills, while Taylor Dicus added 12. Sabrina Hargis had 43 assists, while Kylea Weber had 27 digs.
