Green Knights Get the Jump on St. Scholastica

DE PERE - St. Norbert College scored two goals in each of the first two periods to take a big early lead en route to a 4-2 win over the College of St. Scholastica in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at the Resch Olympic Pavilion.
The Green Knights (2-0-1, 1-0 NCHA) scored twice 57 seconds apart late in the first period to take a 2-0 advantage. Jade Popescul scored at 17:17, while Brooke Nicholson added a goal at 18:14.
St. Norbert increased its lead at 10:04 of the second period when Zoe Kurth scored a power-play goal. Andrea Senne put the Green Knights ahead 4-0 28 seconds later with a goal at 10:32.
Nina Waidacher and Briana Stephens scored at 4:04 and 9:15 of the third period to bring the Saints (1-1-1, 1-1-1) back into the game, but the visitors would get no closer.
Popescul would add an assists to give her a two-point night, the Green Knights' lone multi-point performance.
St. Scholastica outshot St. Norbert 38-31. Kaley Gibson made 36 saves for the Green Knights, while Teraysa White made 27 stops for the Saints. St. Norbert was 1-for-2 on the power play, while the Saints were 0-for-3.
