DE PERE - St. Norbert College made the most of its best scoring opportunities to pick up a 3-1 win over Marian University in the NCHA/MCHA Thanksgiving Classic at the Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights (7-2-1) remained unbeaten all-time against the MCHA at 57-0-2. Marian, in its first year coached by former longtime St. Norbert assistant A.J. Aitken, dropped to 4-4-1.

The Sabres took the lead late in the first period when Tyler Klein put home a rebound at 18:56 off a rebound for a power-play goal.

St. Norbert answered early in the second period when Sam Higgins hit a streaking Tyler Zepeda, who finished the breakaway chance at the 5:40 mark. The Green Knights pulled ahead at 9:31 when Joe Perry put home a wraparound shot.

The Green Knights added an insurance marker when Kyle Stroh collected a loose puck in front of a prone Marian goaltender Josh Baker and finished at the 8:09 mark of the third period.

Stroh and Perry also had one assist in the game to give them both two-point nights.

St. Norbert outshot Marian 41-23, including 27-13 in the final two periods. David Jacobson made 22 saves for the Green Knights, while Baker made 38 stops for the Sabres. St. Norbert was 0-for-3 on the power play, while Marian was 1-for-3.
