St. Norbert Repeats Second Period Success in Win Over St. Olaf

DE PERE - St. Norbert College had a big second period for the second consecutive night, scoring five goals in the frame en route to a 6-3 win over St. Olaf College in a non-conference game at the Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights (12-2-1) scored seven goals in the second period in yesterday's 12-2 pummeling of St. Mary's University, giving St. Norbert 12 goals in the middle period this weekend.

St. Olaf (5-8-1) held a 1-0 lead after one period, with Kevin Harris' goal at 10:42 of the stanza giving the Oles the early advantage.

St. Norbert didn't waste much time getting the lead in the second period. Cullen Bradshaw netted a power-play goal at 1:09, and Kyle Stroh followed with an even-strength goal at 2:32 for a 2-1 edge.

St. Olaf's Mark Rath was whistled for a major checking-from-behind penalty at 5:01, and the Green Knights scored twice during the five minutes. Chris Rial finished a chance at 8:29, and Cody Keefer scored 19 seconds later for a 4-1 edge. Mason Baptista added a subsequent power-play goal at 12:37 for a 5-1 lead. The Green Knights were 4-for-5 in the period on the power play and were 4-for-8 in the game.

The Green Knights finished their scoring 34 seconds into the third period with Cullen Bradshaw's 12th goal of the season, and his sixth of the weekend. St. Olaf got a pair of consolation goals later in the period on a power-play goal by Harris and an even-strength goal by Joel Lundstrom.

Joe Perry had four assists in the game, all coming in the second period to set a St. Norbert record for assists in a period. Keefer added two assists for a three-point game, while Reid Campbell had two assists.

St. Norbert outshot St. Olaf 30-20. David Jacobson made 17 saves for the Green Knights, while Henrik Wood made 24 stops for the Oles.
