Green Knights Bounce Back Against UW-Stout

DE PERE - St. Norbert College salvaged a split in its Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series with UW-Stout, gaining a 4-1 win in a Saturday matinee at the Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights (15-3-1, 9-2-1 NCHA) took the early lead on a power-play goal by Erik Cooper just 2 minutes 9 seconds into the game. St. Norbert extended its lead at 2:52 of the second period when Derek Donohue scored his first goal of the season.

Stout (9-8-2, 4-8) answered with a goal by Jason Cohen at 15:39 of the second period to cut the deficit to 2-1, but the Green Knights responded with a Sam Higgins goal at 17:08 of the period.

Kyle Stroh's empty-net goal, his 15th marker of the season, with 1:02 remaining in the game closed out the scoring.

Mason Baptista had two assists for the Green Knights, while Stroh added an assist to also give him a two-point game.

St. Norbert outshot Stout 38-29. Mike Martin picked up his first win of the season, making eight saves in 35 minutes of action. David Jacobson made 20 saves in 25 minutes of relief. The Green Knights were 1-for-6 on the power play.

Nick Hopper made 34 saves for the Blue Devils, who were 0-for-3 on the power play.
