Green Knights' Defense Wears Down Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - St. Norbert College used two long stretches where it held Lake Forest College scoreless as the springboard to a 64-48 win over the Foresters in a Midwest Conference game at the LFC Sports Center.

The Green Knights (13-3, 10-2) won for the tenth consecutive game, with four road games in that stretch. The 10-game winning streak is their longest since an 11-game streak during the 2009-10 season.

St. Norbert held a 10-9 lead with 10:26 left in the first half, and then held the Foresters without a point for the next 7:14 to take a 25-9 lead with 3:12 left before intermission. The Green Knights, who led 32-19 at halftime, then led 32-21 51 seconds into the second half. St. Norbert then held the Foresters scoreless for almost the next six minutes, taking a 47-21 lead with 13:16 to go following a 15-0 run.

The Green Knights shot 51.9 percent from the field, making 27 of 52 field-goal attempts. Brandon Gries led the Green Knights with 12 points, while Andrew Schwoerer added 10 points and seven rebounds. Paul Appleton added 10 points off the bench.

Lake Forest shot just 29.8 percent from the floor, making 17 of 57 field-goal attempts. Jeff Beck finished with 14 points, while Mason Zuniga added 10 points.
