GREEN BAY - Jared Yost hit home runs in three consecutive at bats in three consecutive innings to pace St. Norbert College to a doubleheader sweep of Lawrence University at VandenPlas Field at Green Bay Southwest High School.

Yost's three long flies came in handy in the opener, as the Green Knights outlasted the Vikings 11-9. Trevin Hillesheim's two-hitter in the nightcap led to a 10-0 St. Norbert win.

The first win also gave St. Norbert head coach Tom Winske his 203rd win at St. Norbert, passing the legendary Mel Nicks, for whom the St. Norbert home diamond is named, as the school's career baseball wins leader. Winske is 204-136-1 in 10 years at St. Norbert. Nicks posted 202 wins from 1958 to 1979.

The Green Knights, who also clinched a spot in the MWC Tournament in two weeks, found themselves trailing 6-4 after Lawrence scored four times in the top of the fifth inning.

Yost, who had hit a solo home run in the fourth, socked another two-run blast in the fifth to retie the game. Lawrence scored once in the top of the seventh to pull ahead 7-6 before the Green Knights scored four times in the bottom half of the inning.

Tony Jandron had an RBI single to score Adam Frost. Cory Fuller's RBI single drove in Jandron made in 8-7. Yost followed with another two-run shot to left to put the Green Knights up 10-7. Alex Byrne had an RBI single to an insurance run in the seventh.

Yost was 3-for-5 with five RBIs in the opener, while Byrne was 4-for-4 with two RBIs. Fuller, Frost and Brett Birkholz also had two hits apiece for the Green Knights, who had 15 for the game.

Mike Wallerich threw a solid 3 1/3 innings of relief to pick up his first win of the season. Wallerich yielded a two-run home run in the ninth but that was the only hit he allowed in addition to one walk and three strikeouts.

Hillesheim was in complete command in the nightcap, twirling a two-hitter to improve to a Midwest Conference-best 6-0. Hillesheim walked two and struck out seven. The only two hits he allowed were an opposite-field single in the third inning and a bunt single in the sixth.

St. Norbert led 3-0 but a big six-run uprising in the sixth inning pushed the Green Knights well out in front.

Birkholz had a solo home run in the third, and Wallerich stroked a two-run home run in the fourth. Fuller had an RBI double and Yost had an RBI single to get things going in the seventh. Frost followed with a three-run double just inside the third-base bag for the decisive blow.

Fuller was 4-for-4 with two runs scored, Yost was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Jandron was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Frost, Jandron and Yost all extended their hitting streaks to 16 in the doubleheader.
