DE PERE - St. Norbert College salvaged a weekend split for the third consecutive week as the Green Knights tamed UW-Superior 4-1 in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at the Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights (17-5-1, 11-4-1 NCHA), who have dropped their last three Friday games only to return the next day and win, jumped ahead of Superior (11-11-1, 6-9-1) with a 2-0 lead in the first period and were never seriously threatened the rest of the way.

Cody Keefer snapped a six-game scoreless streak by scoring the two first period goals. The first marker came on the power play at the 3:18 mark of the first period. He followed that with his 12th goal of the season by scoring at 18:12 of the period.

The Green Knights jumped ahead 3-0 late in the second period when Brandon Hoogenboom sneaked the puck past Superior goaltender Drew Strandberg at the 17:18 mark.

St. Norbert iced the game on the first shift of the third period when Kyle Stroh poked home a loose puck just 20 seconds into the frame. The Yellowjackets scored their only goal of the game on a power-play goal by Pat Dalbec at 3:20 of the third period.

Keefer added an assist for a three-point game, while Stroh had an assist for a two-point game. Carl Ekstrom tallied two assists.

Superior outshot St. Norbert 28-19, but goaltender David Jacobson turned away 27 shots in a solid outing. Strandberg made 15 saves for the Yellowjackets. Both teams were 1-for-4 on the power play.
