St. Norbert Gains Split With Yellowjackets

DE PERE - St. Norbert College picked up a split in its two-game Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series with UW-Superior with a 3-1 win at Resch Olympic Pavilion.

The Green Knights (10-9-2, 8-7-1 NCHA) scored a goal in every period and held a 3-0 lead against the eighth-ranked Yellowjackets (12-7-1, 9-6-1).

St. Norbert took a 1-0 lead at the 16:44 mark of the first period when Brooke Nicholson scored her fifth goal of the season. The Green Knights pushed ahead when Zoe Kurth scored for the ninth time this year at the 6:32 mark of the second period.

Henriette Ostergaard then netted her team-high tenth goal of the season 2:33 into the third period for a 3-0 edge. Superior scored its only goal at the 12:28 mark of the third period on a marker by Lynne Larson.

Superior outshot St. Norbert 45-36. Kaley Gibson turned in a 44-save performance for the Green Knights. Superior's Shanley Peters made 13 saves in working the first 17:47 of the game before leaving due to injury. Megan Leikkari made 20 saves in working 40:33 for Superior.

Superior was 0-for-4 on the power play, while St. Norbert was 0-for-3.
