St. Norbert Bounces Back to Top Grinnell

GRINNELL, Iowa - St. Norbert College committed just eight turnovers and used that to lift it to a 62-47 Midwest Conference win over Grinnell College at Darby Gym.

St. Norbert (14-7, 11-5 MWC) used an 11-2 run early in the game to take a 13-8 lead, and the Green Knights never trailed the rest of the game. Grinnell (10-11, 8-8) got to within three at 22-19with 4:47 left before halftime, but St. Norbert went on a 9-0 spurt keyed by two 3-pointers from Krista Hawkinson and one from Megan Doody to jump ahead 31-19 with 2:02 left before halftime. The Green Knights led 33-22 at intermission.

The Green Knights never led by less than double digits in the second half, and increased the lead to 20 points at 50-30 with 10:26 left.

Hawkinson led St. Norbert with 21 points, five rebounds and three assists. Doody finished with eight points and five assists. Tasha Giese scored eight points with five rebounds and three assists, while Morgan Heim grabbed 10 rebounds and scored four points. St. Norbert shot 40.3 percent (25-for-62) from the floor and was a perfect 6-for-6 at the free-throw line.

Grinnell shot 36.2 percent (17-for-47) from the floor. Michelle Briggs led the Pioneers with 14 points and nine rebounds.
