Albers Breaks 44-Year-Old SNC Pole Vault Record

RIPON - Senior Alex Albers broke a 44-year-old St. Norbert College outdoor record in the pole vault to lead the Green Knights' contingent at an unscored meet at Ripon College's Ingalls Field.

Albers vaulted an impressive 14 feet, 9 1/2 inches to win the event by nearly two feet over runner-up Tony Grossman (12-11.75). Albers broke the old standard set in 1964 by Mark Hackl, whose vault of 14-6 was the previous standard.

John Barrett won the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:16.19, while Mackenzie Laska was third at 4:22.90.

Josh Zweiger won the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 15.62 seconds, while Albers was close behind in second at 16.07.

Dann Schneider won the 200-meter dash with a run of 23.06 seconds, and was second in the 100-meter dash with a sprint of 11.32 seconds. Schneider placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 12.90 meters.

Steve Schumacher was third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:05.25, while Tom Georgia was third in the 200 at 23.65 seconds.
