Green Knights to Face Wheaton in NCAA Tournament

The Green Knights (20-5) will face the Thunder (20-6) at 7 p.m. Saturday at King Arena in Wheaton, Ill.
St. Norbert is making its fifth overall NCAA Division III Tournament appearance and third in the last four years. The Green Knights are 2-4 all-time in the NCAA Division III Tournament. St. Norbert lost to UW-Stevens Point 70-49 in the first round of the 2011 tournament. The Green Knights topped Hope College 72-65 in the first round of the 2010 tournament before losing to eventual national champion Stevens Point 63-48 in the second round. St. Norbert won the Midwest Conference this season with a 15-3 record and won the MWC Tournament championship Saturday with a 92-68 win over Carroll University.
Wheaton is making its ninth overall NCAA Division III Tournament appearance, and fifth in the last six years. The Thunder is 10-8 all-time in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Wheaton exited in the round of 16 in the 2012 tournament, losing to eventual national champion UW-Whitewater 67-56. The Thunder finished in third place in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin with a 10-4 record. Wheaton lost in the semifinals of the CCIW Tournament Friday by a 59-50 score to North Central College.
St. Norbert and Wheaton are 4-4 in the all-time series, which dates back to the 1939-40 season. The two schools have not met on the hardwood since Dec. 5, 1992, with St. Norbert claiming a 76-73 win at Schuldes Sports Center in De Pere. St. Norbert and Wheaton have met once previously in the post-season. Wheaton topped St. Norbert 68-66 on March 7, 1958 in the first round of the NCAA College Division (presently Division II) Tournament in Aurora, Ill.
