St. Norbert Wins Two MWC North Matches

DE PERE - St. Norbert College picked up two wins as it opened Midwest Conference North Division play. The Green Knights topped Lake Forest College 5-4 and Ripon College 6-3 at the Green Bay Tennis Center.
The Green Knights (5-9, 2-0 MWC) rallied from a 4-3 deficit to clip the Foresters. Tim Hartwick topped Anthony Mykhaylovskyy 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 at No. 2 singles, and Travis Buechel defeated Jerry Wang 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 in a pair of three-set thrillers for St. Norbert.
Nate Gosz picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win over Jordan Stoler at No. 6 singles. Hartwick and Nick Acosta beat John Adams and Kevin Lasky 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, and Buechel and Gosz defeated Stoler and John Snider 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
Against Ripon, St. Norbert got one doubles point when Elliott O'Melia and Ryan Schmit defeated Tyler Hopewell and Anders Goodwin 8-4 at No. 3 singles.
St. Norbert won five of the six singles matches to lock up the win. Lobeck defeated Connor Greenwald 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, while Acosta blanked Ryan Slowinski 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3. Buechel topped Brian Schumacher 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4, while Josh Sweere defeated Hopewell 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5. Gosz shut out Goodwin 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
