EAST PEORIA, Ill. - St. Norbert College finished the Midwest Conference Classic with a 4-2 mark as the Green Knights defeated Cornell College 1-0 and Knox College 8-4 at the EastSide Centre.

St. Norbert (12-10, 4-2 MWC) received a stellar pitching peformance from Shannen Schmidt in the win over Cornell. Schmidt spun a 3-hitter, striking out four without walking a batter. Schmidt stranded a baserunner at third base to end the fifth and sixth innings.

The Green Knights pushed across the only run when Abby Gildernick's clutch two-out single in the bottom of the sixth scored Samantha Gross from second base. St. Norbert had just four hits in the game, but strung together three in the decisive inning.

Against Knox, St. Norbert scored four runs in four different innings to pull away from the Prairie Fire. Jena Paul was 2-for-3 and Steph Brunette was 2-for-5.

Morgan Rusch got the win for the Green Knights, allowing five hits with three strikeouts in a complete-game effort.
