St. Norbert Sitting in Third Place at MWC Championship

BELOIT - St. Norbert College is currently in third place at the two-day Midwest Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Beloit College's Strong Stadium.

The Green Knights currently have 35 points through six events. Monmouth College leads with 55 points, while Grinnell College is second with 40 points. The Green Knights lead Ripon College, which is fourth with 30 points.

St. Norbert had three of the top seven finishers in the long jump. Randy Hill was second with a leap of 21 feet 8 inches. Mike Verfuerth was fourth at 21-7 1/4, while Dan Sisler was seventh at 21-4 3/4.

Brad Boockmeier finished second in the shot put at 47-6 1/4. Evan Broyles placed fifth at 45-0 1/4.

Nathan Heppe finished in fourth place in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:59.42. Brady Bemis was seventh in the 10,000-meter run in 33:36.21.

Patrick Sweetman was eighth in the javelin throw with a toss of 146-10.

Action resumes at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Beloit.
