Scherer Leads St. Norbert Trio at NCAA Outdoor Track Championship

OSHKOSH - Jenny Scherer's sixth-place finish in the 10,000-meter run led St. Norbert College at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships over Memorial Day weekend at UW-Oshkosh's Titan Stadium.

Scherer ran a time of 36 minutes, 0.29 seconds to give the Green Knights their only All-American performance of the meet. Scherer was just 15 seconds off the championship pace of Case Western Reserve's Esther Erb, who ran 35:45.01.

Sprinter Ashley Graybill placed sixth in her preliminary heat in the 400-meter dash. Graybill ran a time of 58.84 seconds to miss qualifying for the nine-contestant finals.

St. Norbert's lone male qualifier, Jeff Pentek, placed 17th in the 5,000-meter run. Pentek ran a time of 15:17.29 seconds. Hamilton College's Peter Kosgei won the race with a time of 14:32.57.

The Green Knights' three points in the women's meet finished in a tie for 67th. St. Norbert did not score any points in the men's meet.
