St. Norbert Calmly Tames Ripon to Clinch MWC Tournament Berth

RIPON - St. Norbert College clinched a berth in the Midwest Conference Tournament with steely resolve, claiming a four-set win over Ripon College in front of a partisan crowd at Storzer Center. The Green Knights topped the Red Hawks 25-16, 25-19, 23-25, 25-13.

The Green Knights (14-14, 8-2 MWC) can finish no worse than tied for second place in the Midwest Conference standings after winning their seventh consecutive match. The MWC Tournament will be held Nov. 8-9 at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa.

St. Norbert got off to a strong start by hitting .303 (14-4-33) in the first set and .230 (54-20-148) for the match. Breanne Brocker had 13 kills and a match-high 25 digs, and also had three service aces. Heidi Spies totaled 15 kilss and three blocks. Anika Johnson posted 11 kills and three blocks.

Aubree Antosch had 19 digs, while Katie Stewart added 10 digs. Abby West and Hannah Johnshoy had six kills apiece. West finished with 25 assists, and Kaitlin Delahaut added 19.

Ripon (14-14, 6-3) hit .149 (49-26-154) for the match. Karlye Wehner had 15 kills, while Emily Gary added 14. Abbi Williamson finished with 36 assists for the Red Hawks.
