Green Knights Open Thibodeau Era 2-0

DE PERE - The St. Norbert College women's volleyball team began the coaching tenure of Bethani Thibodeau with a pair of wins as the Green Knights claimed a pair of wins at their own invitational at Schuldes Sports Center.

St. Norbert beat Northland College 25-16, 25-17, 22-25, 25-16 in its opener, and then defeated Marian University 25-8, 25-18 25-12 to end Day 1 at 2-0. The Green Knights will face Clarke College and UW-River Falls in Day 2 action.

The Green Knights picked up 17 kills and five blocks from Joanna Mamayek in the opening match. Danielle DeGroot added 13 kills, while Laura Ayello tallied 31 assists. Kim Angst led the defense with 13 digs, while Katie Casebolt added 10 digs. Sarah Sulentic had a team-high six blocks. St. Norbert hit .257 (50-12-148) in the match.

St. Norbert held command throughout the Marian match, with all 14 rostered players seeing playing time. Mamayek had a 12-kill outing, and hit .476 (12-2-21) while also posting five blocks. Amy Perszyk had 17 assists, while Angst had a team-high nine digs. The Green Knights hit .244 (30-10-82) offensively.
