Green Knights Rally Past St. Benedict

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - St. Norbert College fell behind by two goals but received plenty of offense to complete the comeback, posting a 7-3 win over the College of St. Benedict in a non-conference game at Dave Torrey Arena.

St. Benedict (0-1) took a 2-0 lead in the early going, getting goals by Elli Marvin at 7:58 and Stephanie Kirk at 11:13 of the first period.

St. Norbert (2-0), ranked No. 8 in the USCHO.com and D3hockey.com Division III polls, halved the deficit 23 seconds later on Stephanie Slinde's marker.

Henriette Ostergaard scored at 6:48 of the second period to knot the score at 2-2, but the Blazers pulled back ahead on Kirk's second goal of the game at 12:33. Ostergaard drew the Green Knights back to even with an unassisted shorthanded goal at 14:05.

Rachel Koppang scored the Green Knights' next two goals to give them a 5-3 lead after two periods. Koppang scored at 16:09 and 19:12 to put St. Norbert ahead by two.

Lauren Roethlisberger and Slinde scored at 17:37 and 19:18 of the third period for the game's final margin.

St. Norbert outshot St. Benedict 45-29. The Green Knights were 0-for-7 on the power play, while the Blazers were 0-for-4.

Katie Aluia made 26 saves for the Green Knights, while Kaitlyn Rolando made 38 stops for St. Benedict.
