Big Third Period Leads to St. Norbert Win Over Marian

DE PERE - St. Norbert College scored four third-period goals en route to a 5-2 win over Marian University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game in front of an energetic crowd of 1,151 at the Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights (2-0, 2-0 NCHA) trailed 2-0 just over 25 minutes into the game before cutting the deficit to 2-1 by the end of the second period. St. Norbert slammed home four markers in the final 20 minutes to pull away.

Marian (0-3, 0-2) got the early jump, taking a 1-0 lead on a goal by Tyler Klein at 10:34 of the first period following a St. Norbert defensive zone turnover. The Sabres went ahead 2-0 at 5:37 of the second period, netting a 5-on-3 power-play goal by Ashton Reinboldt.

The Green Knights scored a 5-on-3 power-play goal of their own at 15:49 of the second period, when Cullen Bradshaw scored his first goal of the season.

Joe Perry then tied the game at 2-2 when he scored a power-play marker at the far post at 4:38 of the third period. George Malliaras then scored his first goal with St. Norbert when he put home a shot from the point off a faceoff at 9:06, registering the eventual game-winning goal. Tyler Zepeda gave St. Norbert a cushion with a power-play goal at 14:13, and Pijus Rulevicius scored his first collegiate goal at 18:02 to close out the scoring.

Marian Fiala and Mason Baptista had two assists apiece, while Bradshaw added an assist for a two-point night.

St. Norbert outshot Marian 36-16, including 16-4 in the decisive third period. The Green Knights ended 3-for-8 on the power play, while the Sabres were 1-for-5. David Jacobson made 14 saves for St. Norbert, while Josh Baker made 31 stops for the Sabres.
