Offense Cuts Loose in Barrage Over Lake Forest

DE PERE - St. Norbert College got its offense on track as it posted nine goals to claim a 9-1 win over Lake Forest College in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights (5-0, 5-0 NCHA), ranked No. 2 in the USCHO.com and D3hockey.com polls, scored goals on its first two shots of the game and never looked back in this first game of a home-and-home series with the Foresters (3-1, 2-1).

Zach McDonald and Marian Fiala put the Green Knights ahead 2-0 on goals at 2:13 and 4:53, respectively, of the first period. The Foresters got their only goal of the night on a Bobby Barrett score at 10:03, but the Green Knights responded by goals from Sam Dougherty at 11:47 and Tyler Zepeda at 13:27 for a 4-1 lead after the first period.

Joe Perry registered a power-play goal at 12:04 of the second period for the middle stanza's lone score.

St. Norbert put the game away with four goals in the third period. Perry added another power-play marker at 5:38. Erik Cooper scored the next two goals at 10:00 and a power-play score at 17:24. Pijus Rulevicius closed out the scoring 25 seconds later.

Mason Baptista totaled four assists, while Blake Thompson added three helpers. Perry had an assist for a three-point game, while George Malliaras had two assists.

St. Norbert outshot Lake Forest 37-17, and was 3-for-5 on the power play to the Foresters 0-for-7. Tony Kujava made 16 saves for the Green Knights. Leo Podolsky made five saves before being chased after 13:27 of action. Billy Cooper made 23 stops for the Foresters in 46:33 of relief.
