St. Norbert Rolls Past UW-Eau Claire

DE PERE - St. Norbert College was in control from start to finish and cruised to a 69-50 win over UW-Eau Claire in a non-conference game on Connie Tilley Court at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights (3-1) topped the Blugolds (1-4) for the third time in five years. St. Norbert, which entered the game fifth in Division III in field goal percentage at 51.1 percent, shot even better than that against Eau Claire by connecting on 28 of 51 (54.9 percent) of its shots from the floor.

St. Norbert never trailed and after being knotted at 2-2 in the early going, the Green KNights went on a 10-0 run over a four-minute stretch to take a 12-2 lead. The Green Knights held a 22-12 edge with 6:48 left in the first half but went on a 14-0 run to push ahead 36-12 with 26 seconds to go before intermission.

After trailing 36-14 at halftime, Eau Claire worked its deficit down to 45-31 with 12:30 remaining, but St. Norbert went on a quick 8-0 run to lead 53-31 with 9:05 to go and effectively salt away the victory.

Lana Tomashek netted 12 points and seven assists, and did not commit a turnover. Lauren Carman and Heidi Van Sistine each netted 11 points, while Brianna Byrne chipped in with nine points. The Green Knights held a 32-29 rebounding advantage and committed just 10 turnovers.

Eau Claire shot 37.5 percent (18-for-48) from the floor. Abby Midtlien finished with 16 points, while Teenie Lichtfuss added 12 points and Courtney Lewis 11.
