DE PERE - St. Norbert College opened Midwest Conference play with a win, collecting a 71-56 win over Lake Forest College at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights (3-1, 1-0 MWC), ranked 18th in the D3hoops.com Top 25, were in control throughout most of the game. St. Norbert saw a 13-point halftime lead build to 17 points, taking a 50-43 lead with 11:15 to go on a Bryan Dalton jumper.

The Foresters (2-4, 1-2) took advantage of an extended St. Norbert scoring drought, going on a 9-0 run to pull within 60-52 with 5:30 left. Lake Forest's closest deficit was 62-56 with 3:50 left, but St. Norbert closed out the game on a 9-0 run.

Kam Cerroni led St. Norbert, collecting 14 of his game-high 18 points in the first half. Brandon Gries added 17 points and had 11 rebounds for the second-consecutive game. Gries also had three steals, three assists, two blocked shots and one turnover in 36 minutes.

St. Norbert shot 46.9 percent from the floor, making 23 of 49 field-goal attempts. The Green Knights also held a 39-31 rebounding advantage and had just nine turnovers.

Brian Madson led Lake Forest with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Foresters shot 35.2 percent from the floor, making 19 of 54 field-goalattempts.
