DE PERE - St. Norbert College survived a harrying final eight minutes to the game to earn a 4-2 win over Oswego State University in a non-conference game at the Cornerstone Community Center's Resch Olympic Pavilion. It was the first game of a two-game series.

The Green Knights (7-5-1) held a 3-1 throughout most of the third period until Lauren Roethlisberger was whistled for a double-minor interference/unsportsmanlike conduct call at the 12:28 mark. Just 58 seconds later, Tarraneh Dadgar was called for crosschecking to put St. Norbert down two skaters.

Oswego State (8-3-1) converted a 5-on-3 power-play goal at 14:55 when Jocelyn St. Clair scored to pull the Lakers to within 3-2, but St. Norbert killed off the remaining penalty time. Zoe Kurth scored an empty-net goal with 31 seconds left to salt away the win.

St. Norbert jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Roethlisberger took a pass from Kylie Gazzolo and wristed it past Oswego State goaltender Catherine Cote, who entered the game with a tidy 1.00 goals against average, at the 11:17 mark.

The Green Knights took a 2-0 lead when Kurth completed a power-play goal at the 3:14 mark of the second period. Oswego State scored at 7:18 on a goal by Emma Smetaniuk, but St. Norbert took a 3-1 lead into the second intermission with a Laurel Hill power-play goal at 18:57.

Stephanie Slinde registered two assists for St. Norbert, which was outshot by the Lakers 25-21. The Green Knights faced six Oswego State power-play chances in the third period, getting outshot 13-4 in the final 20 minutes.

St. Norbert finished 2-for-5 on the power play, while the Lakers were 1-for-6. Katie Aluia made 23 saves for the Green Knights, while Cote made 17 saves for Oswego State.
