Green Knights Topple Lake Forest

GREEN BAY - The St. Norbert College women's tennis team improved to 2-1 on the season with a 6-3 win over Lake Forest College at Western Racquet Club.

The Green Knights swept the doubles matches and split six singles matches to post the victory.

Kelly Van Handel won at No. 1 singles, beating Nonie Carlson 6-3, 6-2. Lauren Post followed with a 6-0, 6-0 rout of Allison Hamel at No. 2 singles. Allyson Yankle won a grueling match at No. 3 singles over Molly Stapleton 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 13-11.

Van Handel and Post beat Sara Bennett and Anne Demere 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. Yankle and Callie Schroeder teamed up for an 8-5 triumph over Stapleton and Carolson at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 doubles, the tandem of Stephanie Marek and Sarah McElhaney beat Deepika Ramachandran and Natalie Atroshenko 8-5.

St. Norbert is idle until Friday, Sept. 12 when it hosts Carroll University in its first Midwest Conference North Division match of the season.
