Green Knights Drop Three Duals on Opening Weekend

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College lost a trio of dual matches to open the 2014 men's tennis season this weekend. The Green Knights lost 8-1 to Augustana College and 9-0 to Luther College at Western Racquet on Saturday, and then dropped a 5-4 decision to St. Mary's University on Sunday at Four Seasons Tennis Club.

Against St. Mary's, the Green Knights picked up one doubles point when Josh Sweere and Casey Brice defeated Blake Olmscheid and Warren Lawrenz 8-3 at No. 2 flight.

St. Norbert took three singles points, but couldn't quite get the decisive fourth win to take the dual. Nate Gosz topped Olmscheid 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4, while Leon Gilman defeated Garen Merrit 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5. Brice earned a 6-0, 6-1 win over Nick Kasel at No. 6.

Gosz picked up St. Norbert's other point on the weekend with a three-set win over Augustana's Grant Wick at No. 4 singles. Gosz earned the win with a 6-0, 2-6, 10-6 decision.
