St. Norbert Pulls Away From Grinnell

DE PERE - St. Norbert College moved one game closer to winning the Midwest Conference championship with a 64-51 win over Grinnell College in a Midwest Conference game on Connie Tilley Court at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights (17-4, 14-2 MWC) survived a ragged start to the game, trailing 14-11 with 11:07 left before halftime. St. Norbert went on a 13-4 run to close out the half, including a 11-1 run over a 7 minutes 7 seconds stretch to take a 22-15 lead with 4 minutes to go before half on a Stephanie Weigman jumper. The Green Knights led 24-18 at halftime.

Grinnell (2-19, 1-15 MWC) got back to within four at 28-24 just over 3 minutes into the second half. The Green Knights would go on a 13-3 run to take control of the game, pulling ahead 41-27 on a Brianna Byrne 3-pointer with 11:35 remaining. The Pioneers would get no closer than 12 points the rest of the game.

Lana Tomashek led St. Norbert with 13 points, while Heidi Van Sistine added 12 points. The Green Knights shot 43.6 percent (24-for-55) from the floor. St. Norbert held a 36-30 rebounding advantage.

Anne Boldt paced Grinnell with 13 points. Sophia Gatton added 11 points. The Pioneers shot 18-for-46 (39.1 percent) from the floor.
