Scherer Wins UW-Whitewater Invite

WHITEWATER - St. Norbert College junior Jenny Scherer claimed the individual championship of the UW-Whitewater Invitational, her second meet win in as many outings in the 2008 season.
Scherer won the 6k race in a blistering 23 minutes 23 seconds, almost a full minute ahead of runner-up Mary Palmer of UW-Eau Claire (24:15). Palmer was the only runner within a minute of Scherer's pace.
St. Norbert placed sixth among 10 teams, scoring 131 points. Eau Claire won the meet championship with 30 points, followed by UW-Platteville's 70 points. Carroll University was third with 93 points, following by UW-Whitewater's 108 points and UW-Stout's 129.
Ashley Graybill placed 12th for the Green Knights, running in a time of 25 :32. Kelsey Timm was 40th in 27:05, Kim Keil placed 49th in 27:41 and Megan Domnick 63rd in 28:30.
Lindsey Novitzke led St. Norbert's non-team scorers with a 68th-place finish in 28:43.
