GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College picked up a non-conference doubleheader split with UW-Whitewater, winning the opener 3-2 and losing the nightcap 10-2 in six innings at Riverview Park.

The Green Knights (13-14) trailed 2-0 entering the bottom of the sixth inning before winning the opener in dramatic fashion. With one out, Abby Gildernick drew a walk and Samantha Gross followed with a single. Following another out, Emily Laufer ripped a three-run home run to give the Green Knights the lead.

Whitewater (23-8), which had scored single runs in the second and fourth innings, put its first two runners on to start the top of the seventh, but couldn't advance them or gain another baserunner.

St. Norbert had just four hits, but pitcher Morgan Rusch outdueled the Warhawks' Kelynn Sporer to get the win. Rusch scattered nine hits, walked one and struck out one to get the win. Sporer walked two and struck out three.

The Warhawks jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the nightcap, scoring three runs in each of the first two innings. Laufer drove in a run for St. Norbert in the bottom of the second to cut it to 6-1. Whitewater scored a single run in the fifth, but Codi Jenshak hit an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth. The Warhawks scored three runs in the top of the sixth to force an early ending.

MacKenzie Hazen had St. Norbert's lone multi-hit game. Brianna Byrne took the loss for the Green Knights, allowing 11 hits.
