Men Run Well at National Catholic Championships

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - St. Norbert College recorded a solid 12th-place showing at the National Catholic Cross Country Championships held at the University of Notre Dame.

The Green Knights scored 352 points to finish 12th out of 33 teams. St. Norbert scored well enough to finish ahead of NCAA Division I foes St. Louis University, Canisius College, St. Bonaventure University and Holy Cross College. Duquesne University won the meet with 44 points, one point better than the host Fighting Irish.

Mackenzie Laska led St. Norbert in the 5-mile race, scoring in 48th place with a time of 26 minutes 44 seconds. Alex DeVillers scored 54th in 26:55, while Jon O'Brien was right behind in 56th in a time of 26:59. John Barrett was 66th in 27:19, while Matt Leser rounded out the St. Norbert scoring in 128th with a jaunt of 28:30.

Finishing in the top seven for St. Norbert was Gavin Strawn, finishing in 150th in 29:02 and Benji Wetli placing 159th in 29:20.
