Green Knights Top Concordia In Wild Affair

MEQUON - St. Norbert College pulled out a high-scoring win in double overtime as the Green Knights topped Concordia University Wisconsin 4-3 in a non-conference match at Fitting Field.

The Green Knights (2-0) scored the game-winning goal 1 minute 41 seconds into the second overtime when Tyler Kassube took a cross from Sergio Villalpando and finished for his first collegiate goal.

The dramatics began late in regulation time, when Sam Lamers scored in the 87th minute to pull the Green Knights square at 3-3. Sean Sladky assisted on Lamers' second goal of the season.

St. Norbert took a 1-0 lead when Cayden Lasecki finished a header off a cross from Kassube at 20:35. The Falcons tied the game at 1-1 when Keeg Van Dusseldorp also finished a header off a corner kick at 35:38.

Concordia went ahead 2-1 on a Luis Loya goal at 53:55, but St. Norbert countered just 1:04 later when Alex Schumacher tallied his first collegiate goal. Kassube recorded the assist off a corner kick.

The Falcons looked to take control when Jordan Moehn scored at 83:58, but Lamers followed to force overtime at 86:21.

Concordia outshot St. Norbert 26-11. Scott Faul made four saves for the Green Knights to get the win.
