Green Knights Open MWC Action With Two Wins

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - St. Norbert College capped off a rare multi-state split doubleheader with a 7-2 win over Lake Forest College. Earlier in the day, St. Norbert won 9-0 at Beloit College. Both were Midwest Conference dual matches.

St. Norbert (5-1, 2-0 MWC) gained an important win over Lake Forest (5-2, 2-1), as this year marks the first season the Midwest Conference championship will be determined by dual-meet record.

The Green Knights collected all three doubles points against the Foresters. Elizabeth Manlick and Nancy Chybowski earned an 8-6 victory over Christi Valicenti and Lexi Chionis at No. 1 flight. Katherine Ake and Erika Chitko claimed an 8-3 win over Grace Dowling and Gracie Mullins at No. 2, followed by an 8-2 win by Anna Gosz and Ashley Randazzo over Emily Rabin and Zoe Maurer at No. 3.

Chitko beat Mullins 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 singles, with Gosz scoring a 6-3, 6-0 win over Brittany Khayet at No. 5 singles. Randazzo beat Rabin 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6 singles, and Manlick ground out a 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-4) win over Valicenti at No. 1.

St. Norbert cruised to its win over Beloit, dropping only six games in singles action and two during doubles play.

Ake and Chitko blanked Samantha Kinard and Alisha Ankin 8-0 at No. 2 doubles. Chybowski topped Alexandra Kurpiel 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, while Chitko skunked Ankin 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. Randazzo shut out Allison Vance 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
