DE PERE - Donny Baloun's goal early in the second half held up as the game-winner as St. Norbert College slipped past Carthage College 3-2 in a non-conference match at the Minahan Stadium Complex.

The Green Knights improved to 5-3 with the win over the defending College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin champion and 2007 NCAA Division III Tournament participant. Carthage fell to 2-4-2.

St. Norbert jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Adam Sanchez scored consecutive goals. Sanchez took a centered ball from Ben Vanden Avond and buried it at the 27:59 mark. Vanden Avond then sent a long pass from about midfield into the penalty area, and Sanchez beat Carthage goalkeeper Cody Taylor to the ball and kicked it in at 33:10.

The Red Men answered immediately, scoring 1:22 later when Chris Fidlow knocked in a wide-angle shot from about 15 yards out. Mark Goldsberry then equaled the match on a header at 2-2 at 41:41 when Fidlow switched the field.

Baloun's goal came off Vanden Avond's third assist of the match when he knocked it home from straight out front at 53:49.

Carthage had a chance to tie the match inside 20 seconds remaining, but a ball at the goal line was knocked clear by a St. Norbert defender.

St. Norbert outshot Carthage 16-10. Joe Schwartz made five saves for the Green Knights, while Taylor made five saves for the Red Men.
