APPLETON - St. Norbert College remained in contention for a berth in the Midwest Conference Tournament following a 1-0 win over Lawrence University at Whiting Field West.

The Green Knights (7-8-1, 5-2-1 MWC) host a pair of crucial league games this week at Schneider Stadium. St. Norbert hosts Ripon College at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Carroll University at 4 p.m. Saturday. The Green Knights would qualify for the four-team MWC Tournament in two different scenarios: a win over Ripon and a subsequent Ripon loss to Grinnell College, or simply a win over Carroll.

St. Norbert scored the game's only goal at the 17:43 mark when Kaitlin Schmitz registered her sixth goal of the season. Schmitz's strike was deflected by Lawrence goalkeeper Dani Glass, but the ball crossed the goal line just inside the post for the goal. Sarah Bowles was credited with an assist.

The Green Knights held a 19-8 shots advantage and also had the game's only corner kick. Sarah Platzer made five saves to register her third consecutive shutout. Glass made eight stops for the Vikings (5-11-2, 3-5-2).
