Green Knights Rally Past St. Benedict

DE PERE - St. Norbert College used three second-period goals as the impetus behind a 4-2 win over College of St. Benedict in a non-conference game at Resch Olympic Pavilion. It was the season opener for both teams.

The Blazers took a 1-0 lead at 12:41 of the first period on an unassisted goal by Kimberly Patterson.

St. Norbert knotted the game at 1-1 when Myranda Hayes scored at 1:35 of the second period. Katie Conlon added a power-play goal at 4:08, and Jillian Kosteck scored shorthanded at 8:46 for a 3-1 lead.

St. Benedict pulled to within 3-2 on a power-play goal at 6:05 by Stephanie Kirk, but the Green Knights salted the game away with a power-play goal by Kylie Gazzolo at 15:36.

St. Norbert outshot St. Benedict 42-21. The Green Knights were 2-for-4 on the power play, while the Blazers were 1-for-6. Brianna Kelly made 19 saves in her collegiate debut between the pipes for St. Norbert. Jenna Traut made 38 saves for St. Benedict.
