Green Knights Pull Out MWC Win Over Monmouth

DE PERE - The St. Norbert College women's volleyball team kept its hold on first place in the Midwest Conference with a key win over Monmouth College at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights moved to 16-0 on the season with the win over the Fighting Scots by scores of 25-22, 26-24, 28-26. The Green Knights rallied from down 24-21 with Monmouth serving in the third set to win via sweep. St. Norbert has won 30 consecutive sets over its last 10 matches.

St. Norbert was led by Joanna Mamayek's 11 kills on 19 attempts with no hitting errors. Katie Casebolt added 10 kills on 39 attempts with one error. Laura Ayello had 37 assists for an offense that hit .213 for the match (44-12-150).

The Green Knights were stellar defensively, with five players posting at least 12 digs. Ayello had a team-high 15 digs, while Kim Angst added 14 digs, Casebolt and Courtney Stephenson 13 each and Danielle DeGroot 12.

Monmouth hit .203 (40-13-133) for the match. Tanesha Hughes had 14 kills on 31 attempts with one error. Crystal Myers had 28 digs to lead the Scots, which had 92 digs as a team.
