Green Knights Rip Falcons In Series Opener

DE PERE - St. Norbert College scored multiple goals in every period to get the home stretch of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association schedule off to a good start, posting a 7-1 win over Concordia University Wisconsin at Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights (12-1-2, 8-0-1 NCHA), ranked No. 1 in the USCHO.com and D3hockey.com polls, moved into a tie for first place in the NCHA with the win. Leader Adrian College dropped a point to College of St. Scholastica in a 2-2 tie in Duluth, Minn.

St. Norbert jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period. Cullen Bradshaw scored 15 seconds into the Green Knights' first power-play opportunity of the game for his seventh goal of the season. Marian Fiala scored at 13:01 of the first period, while Pijus Rulevicius scored at 17:37.

The Green Knights added to their cushion with goals from Mason Baptista at 1:21 and Blake Thompson at 4:31 of the second period. Thompson's marker was a power-play goal.

Concordia (6-10, 2-7) scored at 5:34 of the third period on a power-play goal by Tanner Bull, but St. Norbert answered with Michael Hill's 13th goal of the season at 9:27 and Rulevicius' second goal of the night at 15:11.

Rulevicius had an assist, Baptista two assists and Tyler Zepeda registered three assists for three-point games. Thompson, Bradshaw and Fiala all had an assist for two-point games, while Tanner Froese had two assists.

David Jacobson made 15 saves for St. Norbert for his 73rd career win, which moved him into sole possession of third place in NCAA Division III history for wins. Dylan Frank made 37 stops for the Falcons.

St. Norbert was 2-for-3 on the power play, while Concordia was 1-for-4.
