Green Knights Finish Off Sweep of Lumberjacks

ASHLAND - St. Norbert College ended the regular season with a 5-0 win over Northland College to cap off a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series sweep at Bay Area Civic Center.

The Green Knights (17-5-2, 13-4-1 NCHA) also captured the No. 2 seeding for the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs. St. Norbert will host Lawrence University in a quarterfinal series at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Cornerstone Community Center.

St. Norbert took a 1-0 lead late in the first period when Tanner Froese scored at 17:25. The Green Knights extended their lead to 2-0 when Marian Fiala scored a goal for the third consecutive game with a marker at 17:34 of the second period.

The Green Knights put the game away with three third-period goals. Ross Pavek scored at 1:44, while Mason Baptista followed at 3:47. Sam Dougherty followed with a power-play goal with six seconds remaining.

Fiala added an assist for a two-point game, while Cullen Bradshaw added two assists.

St. Norbert outshot the Lumberjacks 32-19. Tony Kujava made 19 saves to post the shutout. Jesse DiLillo made 27 saves for Northland.

St. Norbert was 1-for-3 on the power play, while Northland was 0-for-2.
