Late Goal Sends St. Norbert to Tie With St. Scholastica

DULUTH, Minn. - St. Norbert College gave up a goal with 54 seconds remaining in regulation time and had to settle for a 2-2 tie with College of St. Scholastica in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Mars Lakeview Game.

The Green Knights (15-6-4, 10-4-4) fell to the No. 3 seeding in the NCHA Slaats Cup Playoffs with the stalemate, and will host Marian University at 2 p.m. Saturday in a first-round game.

St. Norbert was nursing a 2-1 lead when Nina Waidacher scored her 23rd goal of the season with 54 seconds left. The Green Knights had 1 minute 19 seconds left of power-play time to end overtime, but couldn't find the game-winning goal.

St. Scholastica took a 1-0 lead at 1:46 of the second period on a goal by Amanda Broman. Lauren Roethlisberger tied the game at 10:23 of the second period to send the game to the third period with a 1-1 tie.

Kylie Gazzolo put St. Norbert ahead at the 7:15 mark of the third period, with that goal holding up until Waidacher's marker.

St. Norbert held a 30-27 shots advantage in the game. The Green Knights were 0-for-3 on the power play, while St. Scholastica was 0-for-2. Leigh Grall made 25 saves for the Green Knights, while Lindsey Hartfiel made 28 stops for the Saints.
