Green Knights to Host Elmhurst in NCAA Tournament Opener

DE PERE - St. Norbert College will host Elmhurst College in its first-round NCAA Division III Central Regional Tournament game Friday at Schuldes Sports Center in De Pere.

St. Norbert (24-1) will face the Bluejays (19-7) at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The University of St. Thomas (24-3) will face University of Northwestern-St. Paul (18-9) in the regional's other game at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Saturday's championship game is set for 7 p.m.

St. Norbert is making its fifth NCAA Division III Tournament appearance in six years and its seventh overall. The Green Knights won the Midwest Conference regular-season and tournament championships and carry a 15-game winning streak into the NCAA Tournament. St. Norbert, which advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season, is 3-6 all-time in the tournament.

Elmhurst is making its fourth NCAA Division III Tournament appearance and first since 2009. The Bluejays finished third in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin with a 9-5 record. Elmhurst, which lost to Illinois Wesleyan University in the semifinals of the CCIW Tournament, is 2-3 all-time in the tournament.

St. Thomas is making its ninth consecutive and 16th overall NCAA Division III Tournament appearance, and is 23-15 all-time in the tournament. Northwestern is making its fifth consecutive and overall NCAA Division III Tournament appearance and is 0-4 all-time in the tournament.
