Green Knights Top Finlandia and UW-Stevens Point

DE PERE - St. Norbert College's women's volleyball team remained unbeaten with non-conference victories over Finlandia University and UW-Stevens Point at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights topped Finlandia 25-12, 27-25, 25-12 before needing four games to beat the Pointers 25-15, 25-15, 24-26, 25-14. St. Norbert is now 19-0 on the season, and is one match win short of tying the school record for consecutive victories at 20 set in 1984.

St. Norbert was in command most of the evening, holding off a second-set scare against Finlandia and narrowly losing the third set against Stevens Point.

The Green Knights hit .292 in the Finlandia match, getting 41 kills in 96 attempts against 13 errors. Joanna Mamayek, Katie Casebolt and Sam Jungbluth all had seven kills apiece, while Lauren Meehan and Sarah Sulentic had six kills each.

Laura Ayello had 22 assists against Finlandia, while Courtney Stephenson added nine digs. Danielle DeGroot had four service aces in the match.

St. Norbert handled Stevens Point in all but the third set, posting convincing set wins in its three triumphs. The Green Knights hit .262 in the match, getting 40 kills in 130 attempts against just six errors. The Pointers hit .114, netting 40 kills in 149 attempts with 23 errors.

Jungbluth had 12 kills with no errors in 21 attempts for a .571 hitting percentage. DeGroot added nine kills. Ayello paced the Green Knights with 33 saves.

St. Norbert totaled 65 digs in the match, with Ayello getting 15, DeGroot 13 and Casebolt 11.
